What is technical writing?

Basically, technical writing is taking some complex subject matter and making it simpler for the end user. For example, let's take a software manual.  In the manual, there are certain things used by the writer to make the procedures easier to follow. You may see bold, italics, graphics, hyperlinks, and certain things that conform in the same manner everywhere in the manual.  You will normally see less verbiage rather than more...fewer adjectives, fewer articles, and just fewer words in general.

Therefore, it truly takes a special person to become a great technical writer.
